5 Practices To Becoming a Classy Homeowner

Being classy isn't only evident in the size, form, color, and impact of the pieces of furniture in your home.  Being classy stems from your character.  Refinement and polished gestures come from having good manners and self-confidence. Various practices can help you hone your attitude and sense of self. You can start with these five to complement your luxurious condominium in Pasig.

1. Say 'Please' and 'Thank You.'

Manners don't age. Reaching a certain age doesn't excuse you from proper greetings. It feels great to receive a warm remark in the morning or before going to sleep. You can make someone's day when you offer a smile and a well-intentioned good morning greet on your way out the complex.

A classy person sends their warm regards without asking one in return. They are concerned with sharing the good vibes and positive energy. They do this without asking anything in return. Being courteous is part of their good-nature.

2. Hold the door.

Holding the door is another simple act of kindness. If you're coming out, push the door wide open to allow the person to come through. If you're going the opposite way, let elders or people with baggage to go in first. Do the same for elevator doors.

Opening the doors is one way of offering help to other people in your residential area. It pays to be kind to the people in your community. You never know when they can do the same for you.

3. Refrain cutting lines.

People who cut lines are everywhere. Ticket booths, cashier lanes and even saving seats on church pews are all examples of cutting the line. It's annoying and unfair towards others. Learn to be fair and wait or your turn.

To minimize these kinds of instances, try not to allow others to come before you. That way, you pass it forward and teach others to wait for their turn.

4. Arrive on time.

Besides the manner you conduct yourself when you arrive in an area, your time of arrival also speaks volumes. Coming later than the expected time makes you appear irresponsible. It also places you in a bad light to the host and other guests.

Practice coming a few minutes before you are expected in the place. It's especially helpful when you have a role in the party or program. You have ample time to prepare for what you have to accomplish. You also get extra minutes to retouch and check yourself in the mirror. At the same time, you learn to budget the time you need to prepare before leaving the house and travel time.

5. Stop flaking.

Nobody wants a flaker. Building the excitement and looking forward to seeing you only to end up in disappointment is not a good feeling. It's almost the same as cutting lines except for their effort on the part of the other person. It's better to decline the invitation and tell the truth than commit half-heartedly. Avoid canceling plans at the last minute. Only do so if you really have to do it – in cases of accidents and other unfortunate events.

Ditto hotel and restaurant reservations. Remember, they are establishments with clients waiting for their turn. Don't be greedy and a no-show. Let go of your spot if you commit you need to follow through.

You can be a classy homeowner regardless of how you decorate your condo. It also doesn't matter if you handout basket of goodies during the holiday season. It's crucial that you get along with your neighbors and peers. Establishing peaceful relations with people around you is a mark of a classy homeowner. The rest is just bonus.
