10 Tips for Moms and Dads in Raising their Kids

Being a mom or a dad is a super job. It requires a lot of effort especially if you're taking on two roles. But, parts don't matter when you are raising your kids. The way you raise them does.

A Quezon City condo can hold a four to a five-member family. It can house more than that if the condo unit in QC is a luxury condo or a penthouse. Whatever you decide your home to be, don't forget these tips on raising your kid.

1. Establish their social skills.

You can build your child's social skills by asking them questions daily. The questions must target their effort, personality, and abilities. It fosters the art of making conversations with your child.

Making conversation is a vital social skill. Unfortunately, several parents neglect to teach it to their offspring. You can train your child by asking "what," "when," and "where" questions then gradually move to "why" and "how" questions.

2. Bring out the best in them by raising their confidence.

Acknowledge any of their intense emotions. They may have trouble expressing them at the beginning. They learn to be confident and overcome it once you begin asking them questions about it to encourage them to talk.

You teach your child the "bravery trick" to become assertive. Tell them to notice the color of the person's eyes facing them. Eye contact makes the child appear confident and less like to hide from the person talking to them.

3. Teach them the value of gratitude and responsibility.

Every child is a treasure, and they deserve to be treated as one, but don't overdo it. Your child the center of your universe, but that isn't true for others. The treatment will make them spoiled.

Moreover, try not to hand them anything they did not work for or gave an effort. Teaching them the value of gratitude by talking about the people who gave their time and resources helps your child open their eyes. A gratitude circle at dinner or before family time also gives a good feeling.

To teach them the value of responsibility, you can assign the chores or figure out ways to help the community. Volunteering provides a sense of self-worth they never knew they had. Most of all, they discover what truly means to be liable and be part of something big.

4. Explain the importance of values

Values are defining characteristics of a person. Hence, you must explain why developing their set of values are important. You must instill the benefits of being kind, generous, honest, and respectful to members of the family as well as other people.

When a person has these qualities, it makes the people around feel better about themselves. It also helps you feel good inside. Most of all, it influences other children to develop these values and grow up as good people.

5. Express your love.

Savor your sweet moment. Don't let time pass you without having the chance to express your love and affection. Try not to get carried away by their daily grumpiness and tantrums.

Anything is possible in the name of love. Your stone-cold exterior and polar caps in your heart melt once you see the smiles on their faces. An affectionate and caring mom and dad raise a loving child.

6. Avoid fighting about meals when in the table.

Allow your child to select the food he or she consumes. He or she knows how much to eat. He or she asks for more if the food on their plate isn't enough.

Don't be too hard if there are leftovers. Try not to scold, shout or threaten the child. Time at the dinner table is time to bond and share stories for each on to develop healthy eating habits.

7. Learn sign language.

Sign language is a valuable skill and method of communication. Signs also help a baby communicate feelings and thoughts even before he or she can speak. Teaching the baby a few signs reduces the frustration from miscommunication.

Sign language also helps the family connect with a member who lost some senses. It keeps everyone included in the loop. It also enhances communication between members.

8. Keep the television away from sleeping areas.

The blue light from the TV keeps your child from sleeping. Lack of sleep contributes to health deterioration due to weight gain. He or she can also be sleepy during the day which results in low grades and poor social skills.

9. Use exercise as a motivation.

Influence them to embrace exercise. Moving and sweating have several benefits to brain and muscle development in young children. Still, the activity levels must depend on their skills and their enjoyment.

Create opportunities for everyone to get into the fun. A sport or a made-up game involving several movements is a chance to get some exercise. You can customize the activities based on the children's ages.

10. Get them checked.

Have monthly doctor's appointments. Get complete vaccinations. Visit the dentist, so they learn the importance of their smiles.

When visiting a doctor, listen to his or her advice. Their professional opinion gives you access to the best medicine for what your child feels. It also minimizes medical complications and problems from the sickness.

A condo in QC seems small with several children in it. But their big hearts, honest eyes, and loving nature make it the perfect home and size to raise a family of four (or five).
